The Geothermal Farm

A concept rooted in its natural environment

The Geothermal Farm concept demonstrates Lithium de France’s vision and commitment to developing its geothermal heat and lithium production activities. This architectural concept aims to inspire, embodying the ambition of an industrial construction that respects its environment, linking the built structure to its surrounding area.

Just like car manufacturers demonstrate high standards and creativity by unveiling a ‘concept car’ as a prototype before designing an industrial model, Lithium de France shares with the region an environmentally respectful ambition focused on its inhabitants, to produce geothermal heat and lithium under optimal conditions.

Designed and developed by Luis Antonio Martinez Garcia, a recent graduate of the Strasbourg School of Architecture, the geothermal farm concept highlights both a respectful use of existing natural resources and integration into a unique historical and cultural rural landscape, that of Northern Alsace and the Outre-Forêt.

In sketching this architectural concept for a local geothermal heat production and lithium extraction unit in the Outre-Forêt, inspiration was drawn from the historical and natural codes of the region, to establish a harmonious link between the built structure and its historical, cultural, natural, and landscape environment.

This conceptual work is intended as a brainstorming tool, an exploration of possibilities. It is a renewed reflection on industrial construction rooted in a territory, aimed at guiding the architectural implementation of a geothermal heat and lithium production unit that must comply with all current safety and urban planning standards.

Discover the story behind the genesis of an architectural concept rooted in its natural environment

This "manifesto" book invites readers to rethink the links between architecture and its environment.

Born from Lithium de France’s desire to integrate its first geothermal heat and lithium production site into its environment, it incorporates the symbols and cultural codes that shape the identity of the Outre-Forêt and the industrial history of its region. It details and deepens the Geothermal Farm concept.
